To cultivate curiosity, compassion, and responsibility within an adventurous, and challenging learning community that honors children’s inherent individuality and interests.
The Seven Rivers Country Day School is a new school with a different approach. We are an independent, non-profit day school set in an expansive natural setting in southern Albemarle County (our campus is also home to Triple C Camp). Our goal is to provide a distinctively progressive educational experience that promotes a passion for learning, nurtures children’s curiosity, and supports individual strengths and ways of learning. Our approach is process-oriented, hands-on, and inquiry-based. We are driven by our enduring respect for and protection of childhood.
Children learn by doing, and learn in context at Seven Rivers, so that information is relevant and is more likely to be acquired. Nature is one of our main classrooms. We will spend considerable blocks of the school day outside, living, learning, exploring, and connecting amongst the woods, fields, and creeks of our thirty-five acre campus and beyond. An integrated, experiential curriculum will allow students to do the work for themselves and have deep, meaningful engagement with traditional academic subjects.
Our 2018-19 school year will run September 4th – May 31st from 8:30-3:00 with some extended days each month ending at 4:30. After school enrichment and activities offered on site throughout the year.
