INTO THE WOODS
In Walden, Henry David Thoreau reminds us: "Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads." For junior disc golf players, the Junior Disc Golf Tournament held at the picturesque Creekside course brought Thoreau's observation to life on every hole.
This remarkable course winds its way through the woods beneath Miller School’s 12-acre lake, humming with the soothing sounds of nature—the babble of a creek, the whispering of leaves, and the calls of deer and birds. It's easy to lose sight of the fact that a highly competitive disc golf tournament is unfolding as you traverse this course.
The tournament provided participants with a meticulously crafted and demanding course, all while allowing them to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings—a testament to the many wonders of disc golf.
This event drew in the top junior disc golf talents from the region, spanning a wide age range, with players as young as four competing in the youngest categories and eighteen in the oldest. Many of the leading competitors had recently returned from the National Championships, and MSA's tournament served as their final showdown before entering the off-season.
The popularity of Seven River’s disc golf program continues to soar on the Hill. Furthermore, the courses are constantly evolving, thanks to the efforts of head MSA coach John Macdonald and Seven Rivers coach Devin Crosby, who work on building and fine-tuning holes on a daily basis.
